By Car

From the Skye bridge, take the A87 signposted Portree and Uig.  At a road junction on the outskirts of Portree (34 miles)  the A87 turns left and continues towards Uig.  Continue along here for another 8 miles and you will reach the village of Kensaleyre.  At this point you Loch Eyre, a sea-loch, begins on your left, as in the picture above.  Shortly after this you will see a road off to the right signposted Eyre.  Turn up here and Cruinn Bheinn is the third house on the right.  You will see the B&B sign outside the house.

If you are coming off the Western Isles Ferry at Uig, follow the traffic off the ferry along the A87 (signposted Portree) for about 8 miles.  You will know when you've reached Kensaleyre by the 40 mph speed restriction signs.  Look out for the road to Eyre off to the left and continue as above.

By Bus

Citylink buses run to Uig from Glasgow, Inverness, Fort William, Kyle, with connections from all parts of Scotland. See their online timetables.  Get a ticket to Kensaleyre and get off at Eyre road end.  Walk up the Eyre road and ours is the third house on the left.

Highland Country buses run a local service around the Trotternish peninsula in both directions, starting and finishing in Portree. These buses go past the Eyre road end as well.  You can get the latest timetables from Uig Tourist Office (01470-542404, April-October) or Portree Tourist Office (01478-612137, all year). This company also runs connections from Kyle to Portree.

By train

The nearest train stations are Kyle of Lochalsh and Mallaig.  Trains are run by Scotrail.  From Kyle you can get a Citylink or Highland bus, changing at Portree if necessary. From Mallaig you can get the ferry to Armadale and then a Skyeways or Highland bus to Portree, then Citylink or Highland bus to Kensaleyre. Contact Portree Tourist Office (01478-612137) for latest information.
